On September 28, 2010 professor and postdoctoral fellow Tsuneharu Ogasawara died.
Ogasawara was coordinator of undergraduate courses in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Poli/UFRJ and professor of postgraduate studies in Science and Engineering Materials, Federal University of Sergipe – UFS.
Ogasawara was a dedicated member of the Brazilian Association of Metallurgy and always took an active and remarkable events of the association, where he presented 50 technical papers.
Born in Mirandópolis (SP) in 1944, he graduated in Industrial Metallurgy at the Universidade Federal Fluminense – UFF. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials from Coppe/UFRJ and attended post-doctoral studies at Rutgers University.
Ogasawara had an extensive list of national and international publications, including 62 journal articles, 271 full papers and 40 abstracts at conferences.
Ogasawara spent 37 years teaching and conducting research at the Poly and Coppe/UFRJ. Supervised 34 dissertations, 11 doctoral theses and 40 students in projects of scientific initiation and completion of course. In addition, he was a a founder of Ceramics Dental Laboratory of Brazil.
