Robert Carleton Weedy, 84, of Logan, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. Born March 14, 1927, in Shawnee, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert D. and M. Ethel Edwards Weedy. Robert was married for 59 years to Sharma Phillips Weedy, who survives.
He was a ceramic engineer who retired as an instructor from Hocking College. He also owned and operated his own engineering and consulting firm. Weedy was a member of The American Ceramic Society and ACerS Structural Clay products division and NICE.
Robert was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Logan Church of the Nazarene, wrote a weekly column for the Logan Daily News, was past president of Hocking County Rite to Life and was a director for 18 years for Someone Cares. He was past chairman of Hocking Christian Coalition.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons, Dr. Mark (Betty) Weedy of Carroll and Paul (Lisa Watkins) Weedy of Gainesville, Ga.; daughters, Kathleen Geis of Westerville, Chris (Jimmy Creech) Weedy of Raleigh, N.C., and Becky Weedy of Florence, Ky.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
