Born March 13, 1920, Harrison passed away at Macassa Lodge on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 at the age of 91.

Born in Schenectady, N.Y., where he spent his youth, Harrison graduated from Rochester University and Columbia University. He was a lifetime member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines as a petrographer and he was a merchant seaman for the U.S. Marine Corps. Harrison retired in 1978 from Corning Glass Works, N.Y., as a ceramic researcher. He was a member of The American Ceramic Society and the ACerS Basic Science Division.

Later, Harrison moved to Virginia and taught glass techonology at Virginia Tech University before moving to Canada. Predeceased by his wife Virginia of 44 years, daughter Christine (2009), and dear friend Joan (2010).

Survived by son Barry (Kingston, Ontario), brother Harold and his wife Madeline (Pennsylvania, U.S.) and the Marshall family. Long-time member of Unity Church and Mountmuir Co-Op Housing where he had many cherished friends. He will be missed as an endearing “old-school gentleman.”

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unity of Greater Hamilton Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
