The American Ceramic Society’s Cements Division hosted the 13th Advances in Cement-Based Materials meeting June 14-16 at Columbia University in New York City, New York. More in the meeting wrap-up below.
2023 Della Roy Lecture
Dale P. Bentz presented the 2023 Della Roy Lecture titled “Hindsight, Foresight, and Insight: Calorimetry and Chemical Shrinkage through the Years”.
Dale Bentz retired from the Engineering Laboratory at the National
Institute of Standards and Technology in 2018 with 34 years of service. AtNBS/NIST, his research focused on experimental and computer modeling studies of cement-based and fire resistive materials. He is a former chairperson of the ACerS Cements Division. Throughout his career, he was active in ACerS (Brunauer Award), ACI (Fellow, Wason Medal and Willson
Award), ASTM (Honorary Membership in C01), and RILEM (L’Hermite Medalist). In 2019, he was inducted into the NIST Portrait Gallery of Distinguished Alumni.
